Welcome to Shift! These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Shift mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service” or “Shift”).

By creating an account or using Shift, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About Shift

Shift is a social and cultural platform designed to bring people together around Irish pubs, culture, events, and community. Users may also enable a Dating Mode, which unlocks features for discovering and connecting with others who are open to dating.

To use Shift, you must:

  1. Be at least 18 years old.
  2. Be legally capable of entering a binding contract.
  3. Not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable laws.
  4. Not have been previously removed or banned from Shift.
  5. Use the Service in compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws.

Dating Mode is only available to users 18 or older.

4. Profile Types

Shift provides:

4.1 Social Profile (Always On)

Visible to all Social users.

4.2 Dating Profile (Optional Toggle)

Visible only when Dating Mode is ON and only to compatible users.

Turning Dating Mode OFF hides your Dating profile but does not delete Dating data unless you delete your account.

5. User Conduct & Community Guidelines

You agree not to:

Shift is designed to foster a respectful Irish cultural community. Treat others accordingly.

6. User Content & License

You retain ownership of all User Content.

You grant Shift a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, distribute, and display your content as necessary to provide the Service.

Shift may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms.

7. Admin Content (Craic Articles & Events)

Only admins or approved moderators may post Craic articles or designate featured events.

You may report content at any time.

8. Comments, Reactions & Engagement

Shift supports text comments, image comments, replies (one level deep), and six reaction types.

Shift may remove content that violates policies.

9. Entities: Pubs, Orgs, Artists

Users may browse and favorite entities. Fans and checked-in users may appear unless blocked.

10. Location Services

Shift may request location to enable:

Location can be disabled in device settings.

11. Check-In Feature

You may check in at supported venues when within 0.5 miles.

Check-ins show your presence and the number of other users checked in.

Spoofing or falsifying location is prohibited.

12. Events & Get Togethers

Users may create Events and Get Togethers.

Events require admin approval; Get Togethers do not.

Users can comment, react, and view the “Meet IRL” attendee lists.

13. Social & Dating Connections

Shift maintains separate connection systems for Social and Dating.

Requests may be sent, received, accepted, rejected, or canceled.

14. Messaging

Messaging is powered by GetStream.io.

A chat begins when a connection is accepted.

No distinction exists between Social and Dating chats.

Blocking hides users from:

16. Subscriptions & Paid Features

16.1 Shift Social — Supporter Tiers

Paid subscription that unlocks Dating Mode and related functionality.

Auto-renewal and billing handled through Apple/Google.

17. Push Notifications

Notifications may include:

Shift may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or ban users.

Shift is not required to disclose the results of moderation decisions.

19. Account Suspension & Termination

Shift does not conduct criminal background checks or identity verification.

Users are solely responsible for evaluating the risks of interacting with others.

Use common-sense precautions when arranging in-person meetups.

23A. In-Person Meetups & Assumption of Risk

Shift encourages social interaction, cultural exploration, and in-person meetups at pubs, events, Get Togethers, and other locations.

By using the Service, you understand and agree that any in-person interactions or meetups you choose to participate in—whether suggested, displayed, facilitated, or organized through Shift—are entirely at your own risk.

You acknowledge that:

23B. Release of Claims (In-Person Interactions & Venues)

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you hereby release and discharge Shift, its officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, demands, losses, liabilities, or damages arising from:
