Ireland celebrates Nollaig na mBan (Women's Christmas)

Nollaig na mBan Shona Daoibh! Happy Women’s Christmas (eve) to you all!

January 6th, also known as Little Christmas, is a beloved Irish tradition where, across the country and in Irish diaspora pockets, women are gathering for a well-earned break, a stroll around the shops, relaxing with a scone & a cupán tae, and of course, enjoying a bit of craic at the pub.

The old tradition is linked to Cork and Kerry, where after the full tilt of Christmas cooking, hosting, and carrying the home, women got 'a day off' and the lads take over the household duties!

The spirit is the same today, where we celebrate a well-deserved pause, but it’s also a day of recognition, appreciation and awareness for women's issues.

Women's Christmas is lovely excuse to celebrate the women in your life, so give a seriously special shout-out to your friends, your sisters, your mam today!

Tá tuillte sé tuillte acu - they've earned it!
